Ryan & Marilyn’s Engagement Photos

Ryan & Marilyn had a great time at Morris Avenue for their engagement photo session. Morris Avenue located on First Avenue North, Birmingham, AL, has a great variety of structures and late 19th to early 20th century warehouses that has proven time and time again to be a favorite backdrop and location for our couples’ photographs. Marilyn & Ryan are looking forward to their June 19th wedding at the beautiful Mathews Manor in Springville. Mathews go the extra mile to help your wedding day dreams come true. They’ll work with you to achieve the outcome that you desire and one that reflects your uniqueness too. You can put your trust in their dedicated staff and experienced team not only for a beautiful venue location but also for catering and cakes. Additionally, their florist has been designing flower arrangements for more than 15 years and can design any arrangement you choose. Be sure to visit their website at www.mathewsmanor.com .

2010 Summer Wedding Season

Friday, June 4, 2010

Jim Little Photography has been busy! The summer 2010 wedding season is here! We have seven weddings in May behind us and eight more ahead for June. We can cover that many weddings and not miss any wedding day memories because we have four additional staff photographers to help us out. Brad & Celeste shoot our Simple & Sweet wedding plan and Keri and Peter are on hand throughout the year to help out too. So, if you are looking ahead to a wedding date in 2011, now is the time to reserve your wedding date with us. Jim and Brad are meeting our couples at our Homewood Gallery location, 2809 Crescent Avenue, Homewood, AL 35209 to show off the latest storybook-style albums, slide shows, and our large gallery display of unique digital art photographs.

We’ve also been shooting a lot of engagement and bridal photo sessions in addition to our weddings. Engagement or bridal shoots can be scheduled in and around the Birmingham area for either an ‘on location’ or ‘in studio’ session. Again, thanks to our awesome staff for all of your help with our portrait sessions too!

Congratulations to Kevin & Melissa

Melissa chose the historic Alabama Theatre for a perfect location for her formal bridal portraits. Their wedding in late May was at Dawson Memorial with a beautiful reception at The Club.

Ceremony Tosses

The tossing of rice at newlyweds is an ancient tradition symbolizing abundance and fertility. You may have heard that raw rice grains are harmful to birds that ingest them, but ornithologists say this isn’t true. Even so, rice may not be the best choice for tossing because it can be slippery underfoot and difficult to clean up. Here are some alternatives.

Birdseed
Package birdseed for wedding guests to toss after the ceremony in glassine bags sealed with stickers and slips of paper bearing the names of the bride and groom.

Rose Petals
Cut paper doilies into quarters, roll into cones, and seal with a sticker or tape. On the day of the wedding, fill the cones with petals from fresh, opened roses. Stand the cones in a tissue paper-lined box, and hand them out to guests just after the ceremony.

Hydrangeas
Fill sheer fabric pouches with tiny hydrangea blooms or petals from other seasonal flowers.
